NYC attack took toll on Belgian family; mom lost both legs

NEW YORK (AP) — Marion Van Reeth has biked hundreds of miles through rugged parts of the world but it was a family cycling vacation that left her with both her legs amputated following a terrorist attack she survived in New York.

The Belgian airline executive, her husband and their 16-year-old son were among the dozen people hospitalized after Tuesday's attack on a lower Manhattan bike path that took the lives of eight others — six of them foreign visitors.

The list of seriously injured also includes Martin Marro, a Boston-area resident and native of Argentina who lost five friends in the attack. The group had traveled to New York on a trip to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their graduation from a high school in Argentina.
