Dear Editor,

Due to the overwhelming generosity of local businesses and individuals, the Westfield-Ripley Kiwanis Club reported a successful turkey dinner and silent auction on Thursday evening, Feb. 26 at St. Dominic's RC Church on Union Street in Westfield.

The monies raised from this fund-raiser will help enable the Kiwanians to send one or two students to Kamp Kiwanis for a week this summer, along with continuing our other on-going projects, such as sending much needed supplies to our troops overseas, raising funds for research to help cure Type I diabetes, continue our work with autistic children, help the needy and many other projects, both locally and globally.

"Hats off" to the following businesses who so generously gave to this most note-worthy project: The Bark Grill, Blanche's Goodie Garden, C.J's Pizza, The Executive II, Jimmy's Pizza, Larry's Cantina, Surroundings, Westfield Community Bank, and individuals Kelly Mattocks, Michael Spellman, and Thelma Mac Donald.

Also donating baskets for the silent auction were Lt. Governor Robert Ducato and First Lady Marcia, William Karrow, Patricia Testrake, and Elizabeth Weatherly.

Our Ripley donors included Meeder's Restaurant, Plummer's Tavern, Ripley Community Bank, Stateline Grocery Store, and Wings and Things.

In closing, the generosity of these two beautiful communities were overwhelming. They are great places to work, live and raise children, according to Elizabeth Weatherly, a Kiwanian for twenty years, and former Key Club and Builder's Club Advisor for the Ripley Central School.

Thank you everyone and please patronize our sponsors, who have been so very generous to us.
