Fredonia’s Orchesis Dance Company to perform in new venue for spring show

April 16, 2015
Westfield Republican

FREDONIA- The Orchesis Dance Company will present "Synergy" on Friday, April 17 at 7 p.m., and Saturday, April 18 at 2 p.m., at the Fredonia Central High School auditorium at 425 E. Main Street (Route 20) in the village. The annual show will feature many talented State University of New York at Fredonia student dancers and choreographers performing various genres of dance including modern, jazz, hip hop and tap.

The new venue was selected to accommodate the growing audience for the dance group. Orchesis hopes to attract more community members with the new venue as well as maintain campus support.

Orchesis, a student-run dance organization at the university, allows members to fulfill themselves through dance by facilitating creative and imaginative works, working collaboratively with student, and guest choreographers while strengthening their talents. The company was orchestrated in 1967 by Carol Prevet, a former professor of dance at Fredonia, and continues to be one of the largest Student Association constituted and highly-recognized organizations on campus nearly 40 years later.
