“Stamp out hunger” a huge success thanks to postal workers, volunteers

Westfield Republican

Dear Editor,

On Saturday, May 9, the Westfield Postal Service collected non-perishable food items for the Westfield Food Pantry.

Thanks to the volunteers who picked up, delivered and stored the contents of around 50 postal bins filled to the top with a variety of can and boxed food. It was a great day weather wise and for the amount of food we received which will help us in giving food to those in need, at a time when so many have lost jobs and income in our community.

All of us at the Westfield Food Pantry want to give a big heart felt thank you to the Westfield Postal service for their continued service. A special thank you goes to the post mistress, office personnel and especially the carriers who collected the heavy loads of food along with the mail on that day.

And let us not forget to thank the community of Westfield for their donations in our endeavor to provide food for many families during difficult economic times.

"The Stamp Out Hunger" drive is such a wonderful success due to the participation, hard work and dedication of the postal service carriers and personnel. We appreciate all of you and all of Westfield for your generous giving, caring and support of others. Hurray for a great job! Thank you all.

Betty Syper
