Celtic Vespers service

Celtic Vespers, First Presbyterian Church, Westfield is hosting a special Celtic Vespers service at 7:00 pm. The service is influenced by and based on ancient Celtic worship as well as its modern survivals in such worship communities as the famous Iona Community in Scotland. Celtic Vespers is a beautiful service of evening prayer and will featuring responsorial Psalms, prayers from the Carmina Gadelica, a candlelight procession, a brief incense rite, music based on Celtic tunes, and a recitation of The Lord's Prayer in Gaelic. Please join First Presbyterian Church, Westfield at 7:00 p.m. Bring your family and friends!

Annual yard sale

Ripley Free Library will be having their annual Yard Sale. The proceeds of this yard sale go toward funding our Summer Reading Program for area children. We are currently accepting donations of clean items in good shape for this sale. Thank you in advance for helping us to provide for our community.

Annual indoor yard and bake sale

Dewittville-Hartfield United Methodist Church will hold its annual Indoor Yard and Bake Sale, from 9:00-4:00 and Saturday, May 23 from 9:00-12:00. Stop in to see what treasures you can find! The bake sale features homemade pies, cookies and more and will be held both days. The church is on the corner of Route 430 and Meadows Road in Dewittville.

Chicken barbecue

Ripley Free Library will be hosting a Chicken Bar-B-Que from noon until the food is gone. This event will be held at the Ripley Fireman's Field. For all those who are wondering, this will be the famous " Bob's Chicken." Please come out and support our Library at this tasty fundraiser. Tickets are available from various people and at the Ripley Free Library. Any tickets not sold pre-sale will be sold at the event. The cost is $10.00 for adults and $8.00 for children.

Westfield farmers and artisans' market

The Market features local products grown by or made by our vendors, and shoppers can choose from fresh fruits and vegetables, grass fed meats, local eggs, baked goods, soap, maple syrup, honey and a wide variety of hand-crafted items ranging from soap to sculpture. The market is open each Saturday from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm, from Memorial Day weekend through September, in Moore Park, at the intersection of Portage Street (Rt. 394) and Main Street (Rt. 20) in Westfield.

Babysitting clinic at YWCA Westfield

Open to students ages 11 16. Learn the basics of child care, emergency responses. $5 fee which is payable in advance. The class begins at 9 a.m. and finishes at 3 p.m. Bring a bag lunch. Reservations required, call 326-2011 to make a reservation.

Membership Meeting

The Annual Membership Meeting of the Portland Evergreen Cemetery Association a not-for-profit corporation will be held at the Portland Fire Hall, Route 20, Portland, NY. On May 28, 2015 at 5:00 PM. Anyone interested in the maintenance and management of the cemetery is invited to attend.

There will be a rummage, clothing and bake sale from 6 to 8 pm at the Westfield United Methodist Church, 101 East Main St.

Saturday, May 30

Annual Father Daughter Dance

Annual Father Daughter Dance at the YWCA Westfield Young ladies from kindergarten through 5th grade, and their escorts, are invited to attend the Annual Father Daughter Dance at the YWCA on Saturday, May 30. Escorts may be dads, grandfathers, uncles, family friend or other important man in their life. Doors open at 6:30 PM and the event concludes about 8:30. Tickets are $20 per couple, pre sale only at the YWCA administrative offices. Music, dancing, refreshments and a keepsake photo are part of the evening activities. Formal dress is suggested. Rummage Clothing and Bake Sale

There will be a Rummage, Clothing and Bake Sale from 9 am to 2:00 at the Westfield United Methodist Church, 101 East Main St. The $2 Bag Sale begins at noon.

Tuesday, June 2

Westfield's traveling retiree men's golf league

Westfield's traveling golfers will open their 2015 season by visiting Green Meadows golf course in North East, Pa. Golfers will meet in the Moose Lodge parking lot at 8:30 a.m. Tee time will be at 9:30 a.m. Season schedules will be made available to those who attend. All retired golfers are welcome. Patterson Library presents "Charlie and Checkers"

At 11:15 a.m. Patterson Library will present "Charlie and Checkers". This special event will kick-off five weeks of reading fun with the "Every Hero Has A Story" summer reading program for all ages. All ages welcome free of charge.

Patterson Library presents "Wondermakers", an interactive story theater for all ages. This special event will begin at 11:15 a.m. and is part of the "Every Hero Has A Story" summer reading program.

Patterson Library presents cartoonist, Paul Merklein. Cartooning fun for all ages will be enjoyed by participants of the "Every Hero Has A Story" summer reading program and begins at 11:15 a.m. free of charge.

Omnipresent Puppet Theater at Patterson Library

Patterson Library is pleased to welcome back "Omnipresent Puppet Theater". This year participants will enjoy "Puss In Boots", a puppet play for all ages. This program is presented as part of the "Every Hero Has A Story" summer reading program. The event will start at 11:15 a.m. and is free of charge.

Patterson Library's final picnic and fun fest
