Letters to the Editor

July 23, 2015
Westfield Republican

Dear Editor,

To the Westfield Community and Supporters of the Fire Department.

On behalf of the Fire Department of Westfield and the Westfield Exempt Volunteer Firemen's Association, we would like to extend our sincere and deepest thanks for yet another successful Ox Roast. Simply put, we couldn't do it without you.

It goes without saying that the Annual Ox Roast is our single most important function of the year, from both a financial and organizational standpoint. It takes months of planning, days of set-up and days of tear down in order for us to host this annual event for just a few short hours on the second Sunday in July. But in the end it is you, the merchants who graciously donate prizes and the community who purchase tickets that make it the success that it is. We would be remiss if we didn't extend our thanks to the non-member "special" volunteers, especially Felecia Lawson, who help with the event in so many ways such as manning the food line, assisting with the collection of prizes, ticket sales and games. Without your help our success would not have been the same. A special thanks to the musician's from the Lake Shore Center for the Arts who provided live entertainment for our guests. Your energy, enthusiasm and talent brightened everyone's day and was truly enjoyed by all.

Thank you,

William Bills (Chief) and Alan Holbrook (President)
