Westfield Fire Department responded to 48 service calls in December

The Westfield Fire Department responded to 48 calls for service during the month of December 2015.

Of those calls, 36 were for emergency medical services, with 23 of those calls being within the Village of Westfield and five of them within the town of Westfield. There were seven responses to Absolut Care, and one mutual aid response to Portland.

There were three fire calls during the month of December. One of the calls was in the village for a residential fire alarm activation in the 100 block of West Main Street. The second fire call was in the Town of Westfield for a barn fire at 4270 Route 76. The third fire call for the month of December was a mutual aid response to Portland for a barn fire at 5887 Route 5.

There was one motor vehicle accident in December. The Westfield Fire Departmen responded to a vehicle rollover at 6755 Route 394.

There were eight service calls during the month of December. Those service calls were for a car leaking gas at 121 E. Main St., a power line arcing at 10 Clinton St., a tree down across the roadway at 252 E.Main St., a request to check on the roof at 79 E. Main St., a power line down at 11 Cass St., a tree down with wires at 8361 Route 20, a tree down with wires on Route 394 between Martin Wright and Quilliam Roads, and a flooded basement at 7103 Light Road.

In 2015, the Westfield Fire Department responded to a total of 722 incidents. This is an increase of 73 responses when compared to 2014, when the Westfield Fire Department responded to a total of 649 incidents.
