Harold Robbins Jr.

Harold William Robbins Jr. 82, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, formally of Kennedy, passed away from cancer, Thursday, January 14, 2016, at home surrounded by his family and under the loving care of Hospice of the Treasure Coast.

Born in Westfield on Oct. 21, 1933, son of Harold William and Geneva (Burnside) Robbins. Harold married the love of his life, Delores Ann Schilling on April 11, 1954 at the Falconer First Baptist Church.

He graduated from the Randolph High School in 1950. He served as mess sergeant in the National Guard Company B, 27th Armored Recon Battalion from 1952-1955. His first job was at Clarks Hardware at 16 years old. Later Harold was employed by Art Metal Corp., his hard work resulted promotions that led to his last position, Supervisor of the shipping and receiving department. He also served as President of the Foreman's Club, Union Steward and a member of the Art Metal Bowling League. After Art Metals closing he worked for Motor Freight Express and Red Star Express Line before becoming co-owner of Hanson Cartage Inc. in 1974 where he worked until his retirement in 2000.

Harold served as a Deacon at the Falconer First Baptist and Southside Baptist Churches. He was also a member and held several offices of the Jamestown Transportation Club. Both Harold and Delores served as co-Presidents of the Paul B.D. Temple Elementary PTA Club, and were members of the Chautauqua Squares. Harold also enjoyed bowling, golfing, and spending time his family. Vacationing with friends and family was one of his greatest joys that he learned to enjoy early in life. Cruising and timeshare trips were always tops on his list, with his favorite being his Alaska Cruise.

After moving to Florida Harold remained active serving on the Board of Director's for Plantation Manor where he lived. He called bingo and was the head of the Alzheimer's Care Givers Support Group at Life Care Assisted living facility where Delores was cared for before her death.

He is survived by his children Bradley Robbins, Ft. Pierce, Fl , Gary (Jerry Joint) Robbins, Jeffrey (Cynthia) Robbins, Deanna (Richard) Rothleder all of Port Saint Lucie, Fl. Grandchildren, Todd, Cole & Chad Robbins, sons of Bradley, all residing in the Jamestown area, Brenna Robbins of Boyton Beach, Fl and Baylie Robbins, daughters of Jeffrey, and Brittany Robbins of Vero Beach, Fl, Nathaniel & Nicholas Rothleder children of Deanna Rothleder residing in Port Saint Lucie, Fl.

Surviving are brothers Clarence Robbins of Kennedy, and Gordon Robbins of Jamestown. He was proceeded in death by his wife of 58 years Delores (Schilling). Parents Harold & Geneva (Burnside) Robbins.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Pastor Gordon Robbins of First Baptist Church, Falconer will officiate. Burial will be in Myrtle Cemetery.

Friends will be received by the family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
