Elizabeth Brimmer

Elizabeth R. Brimmer, age 96, of Harbor Creek, PA. passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at UPMC Hamot. She was born March 28, 1919 in Ridge-way, PA, the only child of John and Grace A. Rey-nolds Richards.

By the early 1920s Betty lived in Westfield, until the death of her father in 1925. She attended schools in Cherry Creek, Farnham and Sheridan, while her mother found housekeeping jobs to support them. In 1937 Betty graduated from Silver Creek High School. She then attended Fredonia State Normal School 1937-1939.

Betty married Donald George Brimmer in Silver Creek on March 15, 1939, and continued to re-side in that area raising their family. In 1964 Betty and Don relocated to Erie, PA with Don now em-ployed at General Electric. Betty continued being a homemaker and wife until the unexpected death of her husband Don in 1971. Bet-ty began working at Erie East Pharmacy on East Lake Road as a clerk until her retirement in 1984. Her greatest joys in life were her family, reading books of her favorite authors with a cup of black coffee and a cat curled up in her lap.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sons, Jeffrey Lee (1965), Stephen Mark (2008), daughter, Sharon Lee (1948), son-in-laws, Donald M. Miller (2000) and Henry Compernolle (2009), grandson-in-law, Joe Wenzel (2015) and great-grand-daughter, Rachel Mae Staaf (1989).

Betty is survived by her daughters, Donna M. Compernolle, Janice M. Miller (Andy Charles) and daughter-in-law, Cheryll Bowen Brimmer. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Cheri Tinko (Brian), Lori Swope (Ryan), Melissa Wenzel, Christopher Ham (Denise), Janece Earley (Matt) and DJ Brimmer (Nicole), 14 great-grandchildren, Cory, Ryan, Dane, Emily, Ricky, Hunter, Andrea, Joshua, Jessica, Jamie, Katlin, Rebecca, Alex and Dylan, four great-great-grandchildren, Parker, Noah, Carson and Madilynn and several step-grandchildren.

At Betty's request there will be no services at the funeral home. A memorial and burial will take place in the spring at the convenience of the family at Glenwood Cemetery in Silver Creek, NY. The Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd., Erie, PA is in charge of arrangements.
