Presidents’ Day Weekend Winter Festival lists events

The 2016 Presidents' Day Weekend Winter Festival, taking place Feb. 12 14, at Lakeside Park, Mayville, is fast approaching. The festival will feature many events, contests, and activities for the entire family, including Saturday evening fireworks, horse drawn carriage rides, Children's 'Candy' Fishing Pond, Rainbow the Clown, and Wegmans' Kids Corner Edible Crafts.

There are several new events taking place this year. The Fire & Ice Volleyball Tournament will be held Saturday, Feb.13 behind Lakeview Hotel on their volleyball court, beginning at 10:30 a.m. To sign up a 6 8 player team and participate, call 553-1423. The Stones Throwing Association (a game that is a cross between bocce and golf) is hosting the "Hoth Invitational" Stones Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 13, as part of the Festival at Lakeside Park, Mayville beginning at 10 a.m. On Sunday, Feb. 14, the Stones Throwing Association will have free open play for anyone interested in learning how to play this game from 11 a.m. 4 p.m. If the ice is thick enough, a Fat Tire Bike Race, hosted by Hollyloft Ski and Bike, will be held at noon on Sunday, Feb.14 at Lakeside Park.

The Pet Parade will again take place on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 3 p.m. All pets are welcome. If you would like to participate in this event, call the Chamber Office at 753-3113 for information. The Chili Cook-off will take place on Saturday, Feb. 13 between 2 4 p.m. in the Community Center at Lakeside Park. Call Ken Shearer at 753-0981 for information on participating. The Polar Plunge hosted by Family Health Medical Services and benefiting food pantries in Chautauqua County will take place on Saturday, Feb. 13 at noon.
