Brocton sixth in class at boys’ sectional tourney

CHEEKTOWAGA (Feb. 10) - Brocton was sixth in Class D, good for 38th overall, with a score of 4,296 at the Section 6 bowling tournament held at Airport Lanes.

For the Bulldogs, Steven Krystofiak cracked a 1,054 set with a high game of 208. Meanwhile, Josh Powell had a 927 series with a high game of 180.

Fredonia's boys repeated as runners-up in Section 6, Class C, coming in second place in Class C and ninth overall out of the 42 teams in Section 6.

Other local teams competing were Dunkirk (fifth in Class B,16th overall, 5,100 linescore), Frewsburg (first in Class D, 18th overall, 5,070), Southwestern (third in Class C, 25th overall, 4,890), Jamestown (11th in Class A, 26th overall, 4,823), Gowanda (fourth in Class C, 28th overall, 4,766), Forestville (third in Class D, 30th overall, 4,657).

Frontier was the overall Sectional champion with a six-game pin total of 5,569. It was followed by Orchard Park (5,442), Clarence (5,437), Tonawanda (5,396) and Sweet Home (5,373).

The top individual performance came from Niagara-Wheatfield's Nate Maloney, who finished with a total of 1,250, including a high game of 249

Clymer's girls team places third in Class D

CHEEKTOWAGA (Feb. 11) - Tied with Frewsburg heading into the final game, Silver Creek rolled a 789 game as a team to win the Section VI Class D girls bowling title Thursday at Airport Lanes.

Clymer/Sherman finished third in Class D with a linescore of 743-760-712-698-582-656-4,151 and was led by Jenelle Ingalls' 141-176-166-181-138-190-992, which was good for 42nd place overall.

The Black Knights rolled games of 606, 729, 777, 701, 732 through the first five games and finished with a 4,334. Mckenna Steklasa led Silver Creek with a 136-125-165-160-150-208-944 while Jamie Hehir had a 152-184-154-105-151-164-910. Katie Dittiger finished with a 125-154-181-155-156-152-923 for the Black Knights.

The Bears finished with a 738-680-716-674-737-724-4,269 and were led by Shelby Snow's 160-129-166-156-175-191-977. Bryanna Warner added a 144-142-179-159-170-126-920 and Emily Norton rolled a 188-161-143-140-140-143-915 for Frewsburg.

Forestville was fourth in Class D with a 688-630-691-646-710-702-4,067 behind Emily Narraway's 168-158-137-151-161-134-909. Salamanca was fifth with a 679-699-635-670-675-4,009, paced by Samantha Ray's 141-150-133-164-124-180-892, and Cattaraugus-Little Valley was sixth with a 677-582-689-627-647-593-3,815, led by Britney Grey's 169-116-191-152-160-157-945.
