FORESTVILLE (Feb. 17) - Jackson Egan made key baskets when the No. 8 Forestville Hornets needed it most in defeating No. 9 Westfield, 47-43, in overtime on Wednesday in Section 6 Class D boys high school basketball prequarterfinal playoff action.

Egan scored six points in the critical fourth quarter and all six of the Hornets' overtime points. In all, Egan finished with 20 points, 11 rebounds and seven steals.

"He had a big night," Forestville coach Ralph Jackson said. "He went 6 for 6 from free thow line."

The Wolverines held a 29-23 lead heading into the final quarter, but could not stop Forestville's post players as the Hornets outscored the visitors, 18-12. Of the 18 Forestville points, 16 came from the post players.

"I played three post guys most of the game," Jackson said. "I wanted to put some size in the game, especially with the defense they were playing. I wanted to get bigger bodies around the rim.

Westfield had a chance to win the game as a 3-pointer from the corner missed and a second-chance opportunity failed at the buzzer.

Kalvin Stanbro contributed in the win with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Trent Hartloff had seven rebounds to go along with his six points.

"I thought we just played hard throughout the entire game," Jackson said. "This is the first four quarters and overtime we played all year. There were lots of games where we played just three quarters, and it wasn't enough. (Wednesday), we played all the way through and we saved it for a good time."

Eric Fermier led Westfield with 16 points while Shawn Horr had seven rebounds and four steals. Trevor North had six rebounds in defeat.
