CCE holds Have a Heart for 4-H fundraiser

MAYVILLE - Hundreds of people from far and wide visited Mayville's Chautauqua Suites on Sunday afternoon to support the personal development of our county's youth.

Presented by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County, the fourth annual Have a Heart for 4-H Green Tie Affair benefit dinner was held to raise money that will support the continuation of the county's 4-H Youth Development program.

4-H connects youth to hands-on learning opportunities that help them grow into competent, caring, contributing members of society.

Due to cuts in county funding, 4-H has had to raise its own funds so that year-round programming is available for 400 youth across Chautauqua County.

The annual Green Tie Affair funds the endowment that 4-H has created at the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation so that 4-H can positively impact the lives of families in Chautauqua County forever.

In addition to a catered meal, those who purchased tickets to the event were given an opportunity to purchase tickets to a basket giveaway and participate in a pie auction at the end of the affair.

For information on Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County, go to chautauqua.cce.cornell.edu. To make a donation, call the 4-H office at 664-9502 ext. 214.
