March 17, 2016
Westfield Republican

Tonja Dodd was crowned Laureate Alpha Pi's chapter queen by former queen Linda Bennett. She received a crown, sorority charm and a bouquet of flowers. Co-chair Elna Meleen and Bennett arranged a colorful Valentine party following the regular meeting with delicious food. Gifts were given to several secret phi pals.

Communications during the meeting were:

Information for the Beta Sigma Phi Convention in Buffalo in September; a letter for the Kent Knappenberger Scholarship donation and a thank you from the WACS Senior girl for the chapter scholarship. A volunteer card was passed around for members to sign from Westfield Memorial Hospital listing the many events they have planned throughout the year. President Gwen Haskin thanked everyone for the food and cards while she was recovering from surgery.

Tonja Dodd was crowned Queen of Westfield’s Laureate Alpha Pi Chapter by former queen Linda Bennett at a Valentine party following the Feb. 21 meeting.

In service: upon receiving the annual pledge card from Beta Sigma Phi, members voted to donate to the Breast Cancer Society through the International Endowment Fund. Elena Marsala took donated items to the ANEW Center in Jamestown on March 4. Many non-perishable items were brought to the meeting for the Westfield Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry. As voted on by the members, Clara Winkelman will use money from the chapter treasury to buy more food items they need.

Pictures and new articles were entered into the chapter's scrapbook.

Marsala reported there were chapter news articles in the Observer and Westfield Republican.

Birthday invitations were handed out by co-chairs Carol Link and Marsala for the chapter birthday pot luck supper, which will be held at the March 21 meeting at the Westfield YWCA beginning at 6:30 p.m. The members were reminded to bring a gift for their Secret Phi Pal with the card disclosing who they are. New names will then be drawn.

During the March meeting, there will be election of officers. Members will also vote on the Sorority Chapter Girl of the Year. The name will be revealed at the Founder's Day celebration on April 20 at Quagliana's Bark Grill.

Due to many events of the evening, there will be no hostesses nor programs scheduled.
