Kiwanis thanks businesses that helped diabetes fundraiser

March 17, 2016
Westfield Republican

The Westfield-Ripley Kiwanis Club and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation extend thanks to local businesses that displayed and sold "sneakers" for $1 in support of eradicating Type 1 diabetes. In fact, JDRF is the only global diabetes foundation with a strategic plan to end Type 1 diabetes.

A sincere thank you to the following businesses and individuals that so generously gave to this most important project:

The Brotherhood of St. Joseph's, Bella Salon and Day Spa, JC Hair Salon, Freeport Restaurant, Dave Thornton Motors, Dr. John Dudzinski, Plummers Restaurant, Wings and Things, State Farm Insurance, State Line Grocery, Mr. Hank Lynn, Lt. Governor Robert Ducata and First Lady Marcia, Mr. Alan Conklin, (Buffalo, Missouri), Mac Neil, Mike Brigham, Kelly Mattocks, Michael Spellman, Bob and Thelma McDonald, Mayor Steve Gregory, Dr. Jithendra Rai and Elizabeth Weatherly.

The walk was held in Bemus Point. The Westfield-Ripley Kiwanis donated in excess of 85 hours to this project, and were on site to hand out fresh fruit to the hundreds of walkers, along with informational pamphlets.

Due to the generosity of sponsors, Kiwanis proudly donated over $525 directly to the JDRF foundation. Every dollar collected goes directly to research. Please reach out to the sponsors thanking them for "A job well done for a good cause!"
