Happy to see vacant property’s renovation

March 17, 2016
Westfield Republican

Dear Editor,

I am so happy to find out that the vacant property at 45 Franklin St. in Westfield has been purchased and will be renovated. My fear was that it would have to be demolished.

This property was my maternal grandmother's home for many years. She and her husband raised eight children during a difficult era, there.

One of these children was my mother, Marguerite Jane Lillie Bowen. The eight are gone now, but another generation remembers it fondly.

My Westfield sister has told me she would keep me up-to-date as the the progress Mr. Paternosh makes.

If I may make a suggestion, please when the landscaping is done, add at least one rose bush. Grandma Lillie and Aunt Mary had a lovely rose garden in the back yard. It had a path running through it. I remember that as a child.

Perhaps the one bush could be the start of another rose garden or just a remembrance of the busy, productive lives that long ago lived and grew up there.

Respectfully yours,

Linda Bowen Fox,

Statesville, N.C.
