Barbara Neckers

Barbara Stickney Bauer Neckers passed away Sunday, March 13, 2016, surrounded by family at Absolut Care in Westfield at the age of 86.

Barb was born Jan. 9, 1930 in Syracuseand chose John and Bessie Stickney to be her parents through adoption and spent her childhood in Canandaigua. She graduated from SUNY Genesseo with a Bachelor's Degree in Education and a Master's in Library Science. Barb was a librarian for the Ripley School District for years and later taught elementary children in Clymer. After retiring, she continued to substitute in several local schools. An avid volunteer and traveller, Barb was a member of the Findley Lake United Methodist Church, Historical Society, Young at Heart, and her beloved Munch Bunch.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, and husbands Robert Bauer (1962) and Kenneth Neckers (1984). She is survived by her son Richard (Lorna) Bauer of French Creek, and a daughter Brenda (Bruce) Elliott from Brazil, Ind. Grandchildren include Stephanie (Michael) Cloutier, Matthew (Sabrina) Deist, Leslie (Shaun) McGrew, Alicia Bauer, Jamie (Darrin) Elliott-Silvers, Brittany (Darren) See and Jessica Bauer. Great-grandchildren Allison, Adrienne, Savannah, Nevaeh, Cainan, Adam, Connor, Jacob, Savannah, Ella, Mempis, Harmony, Liam and great-great-grandson Gannon survive, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in her name to Alexander Findley Library in Findley Lake, the Alzheimer's Association, or a charity of your choice.
