Brocton Central School Alumni Reunion planned for July 9

March 31, 2016
Westfield Republican

BROCTON - The Brocton Central School Alumni Association met Feb. 9 to kick off plans for the 10th BCS Alumni Reunion. This event gives BCS Alumni the opportunity to catch up with classmates and other alumni.

Proceeds from the events provide BCS Scholarships. Two scholarships of $1,000 each were awarded at BCS graduation in 2015. Depending on donations and reservations, organizers hope to match that and provide two to three scholarships of $1,000 each to the Class of 2016. Information will be available to the class in May.

An essay explaining "What does BCS mean to you?" is all it takes to apply. The scholarship committee would also like to know future plans of where the applicant plans to attend college and what career path is planned.

Alumni President Kathy Peters suggests interested seniors should start their essay early.

The Alumni Committee is seeking more members. Help is always welcomed even if you do not want to be a committee member. It would be appreciated if a member from classes planning reunions could attend the meetings or give organizers your ideas. Donations are also welcomed.

The BCS Alumni Events kick off at 8 a.m. July 9 with a shotgun start for the Alumni Golf Scramble held at Pine Hurst Golf Course.

Former chairmen Jon Espersen and Bob Remington did a wonderful job on this event. However, they have retired and organizers are seeking a new team to fill their shoes. Contact Peters at 679-5814 to volunteer. All proceeds from the Golf Scramble go directly to scholarships. Prize donations would also be appreciated.

Tours of Brocton Central School are being arranged to be held at 4:30 p.m. on July 9.

The Brocton Legion will be abuzz with hors d'oeuvres and social hour from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The chicken barbecue is served from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. A cash bar is available all evening with music, reminiscing and lots of fun.

All current or retired BCS faculty and employees are welcome and encouraged to attend. Alumni often ask about former BCS staff and reminisce how so many of them impacted their lives. This is an opportunity for all of the BCS family to reunite.

Anyone can donate prizes for the Golf Scramble, money toward scholarships or appetizers. Donations can be sent to the BCS Alumni Association, P.O. Box 195 Brocton, NY 14716. More information can be found at or contact Peters, Alumni Association president, at 679-5814 or or Mary Ellen Westin at 792-9472 or for further information.
