Sperry, Yaw named co-MVPs in CCAA West 2 girls’ league

Co-Most Valuable Players Emilee Sperry of Panama and Bridget Yaw of Sherman led the CCAA West 2 girls basketball First Team.

Also making the First Team were Cassadaga Valley's Ashley Repine, Frewsburg's Kaitlyn Blanchard and Gabby Iuculano and Panama's Taylor Bowen.

On the Second Team were Clymer's Rebecca King and Lauren Dunnewold, Sherman's Roxanne Toy, Frewsburg's Olivia Lynn and Panama's Natalie Angeletti.

Honorable mention nominations went to Cassadaga Valley's Jewelee Schauman and Brittany Lancaster, Westfield's Brenna Culbreth, Sophia Demarco and Maddison Knapp, Clymer's Libby Heil and Morgan Covey, Panama's Madalyn Bowen and Nicole Johnson, Sherman's Abbey Cole and Shenley Luden and Frewsburg's Abby Dobek.

Panama's Jeff Angeletti was named Coach of the Year after leading the Lady Panthers to Section 6 Class D and Far West Regional titles, as well as a spot in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association's Class D title game.

Elsewhere, Clymer earned the Team Sportsmanship Award while Individual Sportsmanship awards went to Lancaster, Jesse Kibbe (Clymer), Blanchard, Bowen, Yaw and Laura Tofil (Westfield). The League Individual Sportsmanship Award went to Yaw and Rebecca King (Clymer).
