Westfield Cub Scouts Pack 201 Bear Den came up with an activity called “Bridging Our Generosity to Help Other People.” The idea was to use a set amount of materials and build the strongest bridge and see which bridge could withstand the most weight. With this project, Cub Scouts were asked to bring in canned goods that could be used to test the bridge strength and donate to the local Food Pantry afterwards. All of the boys’ bridges withstood all of the food donated and were then tested by people standing on them. “The boys did a fantastic job building these bridges, demonstrating the strength of one popsicle stick vs. several, and showing that their small bit of help can go a long way when working together to help other people. Great job to the Bear Den of Westfield Cub Scouts Pack 201, Den Leaders Josh Pierce and Greg Maring, The Westfield Community Food Pantry, and parents for helping,” said Cubmaster Joshua Tunison.
