Gail Bidwell

Gail J. Bidwell, 70, of Ripley, N.Y., went home to be with the Lord on March 30, 2016. He passed away at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk, N.Y., under Hospice Care and surrounded by his family and friends.

He was born on October 29, 1945, to the late Leonard and Mary Bidwell.

Gail was a Marine Corps Reserve Veteran.

He started out his working career in the logging business. He also worked for Cooper Energy for ten years before the business closed. He retired from G.G. Green Weapons Industry of Warren, Pa. Gail held several jobs in his lifetime and was a hard worker in all of them.

He was an active member of the Ripley Rod & Gun Club, played in a Ripley golf league, and volunteered at the Ripley Food Pantry. He also was a trophy hunter and fisherman. Hunting was a big part of his life. He enjoyed collecting pocket watches. If you knew Gail personally, you would know that his favorite word was "GLORY." He was a member of Praise Fellowship Church in Russell, Pa. One of the highlights of his life was traveling to the Holy Land with his wife, Molly, in 2009. Gail and Molly wintered in North Fort Meyers, Fla.

Gail is survived by his wife of ten years, Molly (Howard) Bidwell of Ripley, N.Y., who was the love of his life. He is further survived by five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by stepdaughter, Jennifer Gruber of Ripley, N.Y., who was his caregiver; and step sons, Darell (Marybeth) Galleta of Warren Pa. and Jeffrey (Terry) Galleta. Gail leaves behind three brothers, Reverend Terry (Diane) Bidwell of Titusville, Pa., Reverend Larry (Joyce) of Centerville, Pa., and Randy (Bonnie) Bidwell of Simpsonville, S.C. Gail leaves behind two sisters, Mariea Harvey of North East, Pa. and Julie (Doug) Wolfrath of Simpsonville, S.C.; brother-in-law, Robert (Barb) of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his late wife, Ethna (Cooper) Bidwell and brother-in-law, Frank Howard.

Gail's 11 a.m. Funeral Service on Monday, April 4, 2016 was held at the Mathews Funeral Home, 104 West Main Street, Ripley, N.Y., with Pastor Rick Rohlin of Praise Fellowship of Russell, Pa., presiding. Relatives and friends were invited to attend the Funeral Service and called at the Mathews Funeral Home on Sunday, April 3, 2016, from 1-3 and 7-8 p.m.

Interment was in Riceville Cemetery in Riceville, Pa.

Memorials may be given to the Ripley Rod & Gun Club, Ripley, N.Y.

All arrangements have been entrusted to Michael Robert Fantauzzi, Director.
