Rails to Trails, BHS Honor Society to mark Earth Day

April 14, 2016
Westfield Republican

PORTLAND - Chautauqua Rails to Trails and the Brocton High School National Honor Society have joined forces to celebrate.

Rails to Trails is marking the 25 years that have passed since John Goodell, Bob Berke and Sam Thorndike conceived and started leading the development of the rail-trail. The Honor Society is marking this year's Earth Day, a celebration designed to bring attention to the fragility of our world and our part in keeping it healthy.

The joint celebration will be held on April 23, from 1 until 4 in the afternoon, at the Off The Grid Experience, which is at 6577 Woleben Road, in the town of Portland.

The Honor Society will hold many tables and presentations that will highlight various ways we inhabitants of the earth can help keep our environment clean and healthy.

Rails to Trails will offer fun runs on the rail-trail, recognition of many of the people who helped bring the rail-trail into existence and many other features.

And, of course, there will be a cake to close the Happy B-Earth Day celebration.
