Community Blood Bank plans drive at Westfield Memorial Hospital April 15

Donors of all blood types are urged to give the gift of life and donate blood at the Community Blood Bank's upcoming blood drive at Westfield Memorial Hospital.

The Community Blood Bank will be at Westfield Memorial Hospital on Friday, April 15 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. This blood drive is open to the community, walk-ins are welcome. Those interested in making an appointment can do so online at www.fourhearts.org.

"The Community Blood Bank is the preferred provider of blood to Chautauqua County. When the community donates blood with us, they know that their donation is going to directly impact patients at their local hospitals, including Westfield Memorial," said Kathy Hastings, mobile drive coordinator for the Community Blood Bank.

Individuals are eligible to give blood if it has been 56 days since their last donation; they are at least 17 years of age (16 with parental consent); weigh at least 110 pounds; have not received a tattoo or body piercing in the past 12 months; are in good general health and do not have a cold or the flu. You must have a valid photo ID in order to register. Prior to donating, those giving blood should eat a good, solid meal and drink at least 18 oz. of water. Community Blood Bank partners with hospitals in Northwest Pennsylvania and Western New York to provide blood for patients in need. If you are at least 17 years of age, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and are in good general health, you may be eligible to donate blood.
