Betty Hinderer

Betty M. Hinderer, 92, of Blockville Watts Flats Rd., Ashville passed away Wednesday (April 6, 2016) at Corry Manor, Corry, Pa.

She was born Nov. 1, 1923 in Rochester, NY, the daughter of the late Alvin and Mable Choate.

Betty was a 1941 graduate of Chautauqua High School and prior to retirement was employed by MRC-TRW for 33 years.

She was a life member of the Chautauqua Lake Fish Club, North Harmony Senior Citizens. She was also a member of the Watts Flats United Methodist Church and Lakewood Post 1286, American Legion Auxiliary.

Being a grandmother was the best. Waiting for the phone to ring at midnight and knowing that Aaron was calling to catch up on the day and say good night. In addition she always looked forward to when Megan would bring home her art projects.

Surviving are her son: David (Joan) Hinderer of Panama; her son-in-law Charles "Chuck" Fisher of Ashville; two grandchildren: Aaron Fisher of Laurel, MD, Megan Hinderer of Panama and her grand dog Oreo.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard "Dick" Hinderer whom she married Feb. 26, 1949, who died Sept. 30, 1997; her daughter Katrina "Tina" Fisher on Dec. 21, 2014; her parents Alvin and Mable Choate and siblings: Pauline Gilbert, Warren Choate and Ruth Tate.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Watts Flats United Methodist Church. Friends were received by the family one hour prior to the memorial service Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be donated to Watts Flat United Methodist Church, Panama Fire Department or a charity of one's choice.
