Board of Health

The Chautauqua County Board of Health will hold a meeting at 6 p.m. in the HRC Building, 4th Floor Conference Room in Mayville. Anyone seeking further information or wishing to attend this meeting should call the Public Health Director's Office at 753-4590.

Ripley Board

of Education

A regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Ripley Central School District will be held at 6:30 p.m., in the Elementary Library of the Ripley Central School for the purposes of any and all items that come before the board.

Celtic Vespers

First Presbyterian Church, Westfield is hosting a special Celtic Vespers service at 7 p.m. The service is influenced by and based on ancient Celtic worship as well as its modern survivals in such worship communities as the famous Iona Community in Scotland. Celtic Vespers will feature responsorial Psalms, prayers from the Carmina Gadelica, music based on Celtic tunes and a recitation of The Lord's Prayer in Gaelic.

Stanley Hose Ladies Auxiliary is holding a Wine, Dine & Demos event. This event is by reservation only - so make your reservations now and take advantage of the early bird rate! Guests have a choice of a full package which includes boarding a motor coach for a wine tasting tour of five local wineries, dinner and demonstrations by local independent consultants, or a Dine & Demo package, which includes dinner and demonstrations by local independent consultants. The Portland Congregational Church will hold a chicken and biscuit dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. or sold out. The menu will be chicken & biscuit, mashed potatoes with gravy, vegetable, salad, dessert and beverage. Adults $9 and children 10 and under $6. The church is handicap accessible.

The Senior Citizens' Breakfast will be held at the Westfield Academy and Central School. The breakfast will be served at 9:15 a.m. in the school cafeteria, courtesy of the WACS' Board of Education. After the breakfast, the senior citizens will remain in the cafeteria for a performance by one or more of our talented musical groups. Please call Westfield School for reservations at 326-2151, extension 217. Walk-ins are welcome. Community seniors are encouraged to come and learn about what's happening at WACS.

South Ripley Fire Department's annual Mother's Day Chicken Barbecue and Raffle will be held at the South Ripley Fire Department, 10268 North East Sherman Road, Ripley, starting at noon until gone. Dinner includes chicken, potato salad, applesauce, pickles, roll and pie. Dinners are $10 for adults and $8 for children. Raffle tickets, available through any of the firemen and also selling at the barbecue, are $2 each or 3 for $5.

Saturday, May 14

Ripley United Methodist Church is hosting an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Pancakes, sausage, bacon, made-to-order eggs and omelets, home fries, Biscuits & sausage gravy, orange juice and coffee will be offered. The cost is $7. This month's breakfast will benefit Ripley's Cancer Walk .
