Speaker from Buckthorn to visit First Presbyterian Church

April 28, 2016
Westfield Republican

After the First Presbyterian Church's Sunday, May 1 services, all are invited to share a light lunch followed by information about Buckhorn, Kentucky's speaker Rickey Creech, who will talk about the Child and Family Services provided there.

Before the May 1 Buckhorn presentation, a light luncheon will be available beginning at 12:30 p.m. followed by Creech's presentation.

It is interesting to note that The Buckhorn Presbyterian Church is a log structure listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The children served in its residential and therapeutic foster care settings range in age from 8 to 17 years and have been placed in the program due to significant abuse, trauma and/or neglect issues.

Children of families from all different backgrounds and relationships are served no matter whether issues are found within a biological, adoptive or foster family.

More information will be described as a community-based service, according to Westfield's Mission Committee, whose members invite anyone interested to join in a trip to Buckhorn in the near future.

In order to make sure there is enough lunch for all those who attend, please call the 49 S. Portage Street, First Presbyterian Church office at 716-326-2643. If no answer, leave a message and include the number of people who will be attending.

Although there will be no specific price for lunch, donations will be accepted.
