May 5, 2016
Westfield Republican

(April 27)- With the score tied, 2-2, and all the matches completed except one, all eyes turned to the second doubles match between Fredonia's Brigham Pratt and Keith Piper against Westfield's Pedro Ortiz-Reyes and Jason Babcock.

It took three sets, but Pratt and Piper were victorious giving the Hillbillies the 3-2 victory in CCAA Division 2 boys high school tennis.

The second doubles scores read 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.

"It was the last court still playing," Westfield coach Matt Eggleston said. "Everyone knew whoever won, won it for their team. It was an exciting, close match."

Fredonia won the first singles match as Neil Gens topped Judah Herr, 6-1, 6-1. The Hillbillies' other win came at first doubles as Alex Brown and Nick Piper defeated Adam Slavik and Marilynn Amborski, 7-6, 6-2.

The Wolverines' Josh Kitchen remained perfect on the year as he defeated Jim Rush, 6-0, 6-1, at third singles. Meanwhile, Westfield's Josh McCord defeated Josh Thompson, 6-1, 7-5, in second singles.
