Brocton Portland Little League opens season

May 12, 2016
Westfield Republican

The 2016 season is off to a great start for the Brocton Portland Little League. They opened the season Saturday, April 30 at the Art "Bud" Miller fields in Brocton. The BPLL has over 135 young athletes playing this year on 12 teams; 4 Tball, 2 minor softball, 1 major softball, 32 minor baseball and 3 major baseball.

The BPLL has been able to make many improvements to not only their facilities but also equipment this year; including new catchers' equipment for all the teams and a new roof on the concession stand, along with a new remodel of the inside of the concession stand. These upgrades would not have been possible if it wasn't for the wonderful sponsors and volunteers that the league has.

The BPLL would like to take this opportunity to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of this year's sponsors. Team sponsors include; Rexford Services, Harvest View Greenhouses, East Main Automotive, Whitaker Construction, Chem Dry, Mayville Tremaine Insurance, Studio 64 Dance, Sons of the American Legion, 21 Brix, Parker's Gearheads, Casale Plumbing & Heating and Sears Hometown Store.

Along with team sponsors, the league also has many other sponsors who have donated in way of either materials, products, services, financial and sign sponsorship. These sponsors include; Miller & Sons Construction, Rexford Services, Whitaker Construction, Chem Dry, Jess Your Style, Pinehurst Golf Club, Johnny's Tree Service, Morse Funeral Home, Raber's Footwear, Sunset Truck & Auto, Mawhir Contracting, Madenford, Add Lumber, Beaver Club, Southern Chautauqua Federal Credit Union, The Legion Family, Bestway Services, Ahira Hall Memorial Library, Weisner Construction, Tack Metal, Dunkin Donuts, Welch's, Pepsi, Wegmans, Arthur R. Gren, Westfield Tops, and Nickerson's Car Care. All these sponsors have made it possible for the BPLL to continue to provide a fun, structured and most importantly safe environment for the young athletes in our community.

The BPLL would also like to thank the Brocton Central School District for all their support this year. Along with holding meetings and sign ups at the school, they gave the BPLL use of the gym in order to hold a clinic for the minor and major players, which was a huge success and the use of their concession trailer. The trailer was used for a great fundraiser opportunity that Harvest View Greenhouses extended to us, so a big thank you to them as well. The BPLL is so grateful for the support from our community.
