North Harmony Senior Citizens

The doors opened, the lights went on, the heat was turned down and the snow birds returned from destinations all over the land to the North Harmony Senior Center in April, 2016. The monthly dinner recipients and members have grown by leaps and bounds. One would wonder where all the new members have come from. Faces are not familiar, but their smiles add to the joy of North Harmony Senior Citizens. Those smiles will be turned into new friendships in the months to come. Membership has grown to one hundred and thirty two people.

Dinner attendance numbered 72. Doug Ireland, Sue Harper, Juanita Holthouse and Sue Whitman were dinner hosts for this month.

Julianna Harris, Donna Wiggers, Pat Baker, Rita Lescynski, Phyllis Huling, Penney Rossey, Glenn Pratt and Sue Whitman were honored April birthday recipients. Wedding anniversary recipients, Chuck and Dee Ellis, Barb and Sandy Cheney, Marian and Ellen Coffaro and Lorie and Hank Magnuson made additional honorable mention. Chuck and Karen Hale were guests and new members.

The various reports for past club minutes and financials were presented by Norm Czubaj and Anita Ferry and approved by the members in attendance. Many get well and good wishes cards would be sent by Pat Saulsgiver after the members signed them. Paul Holthouse gave the monthly production and distribution of sewn materials to various charitable organizations. Steve Saulsgiver reported on the upcoming and future trips to be taken.

President Ferry reported on the physical conditions of the Center and its property. He told the group about various telephone, email, and mail scams that are occurring, especially to the senior population. He also reported on the upcoming yard sale during the summer months. Articles will be collected, stored and offered for sale. Last year the Club made a substantial amount of money that went into the club treasury for expenses from this event. Volunteers would be sought to conduct this event. Mention was made of Trivia Day which will be held at the center in May. It is being presented by the Senior Council. President Ferry reiterated that dues are still being collected.

The entertainment of the evening was a bake sale for the members present. Proceeds would go toward club activities.

This month's meeting will be held at the center on May 16.
