Betty Ransom

Betty R Ransom, 93 years old of Absolut of Westfield, New York, formerly of Park Place in Fredonia, passed away Monday morning, May 2, 2016 after an extended illness.

She was born in Dunkirk, New York on Sept. 11, 1922 and was the daughter of the late Norman and Edna Springborn Ransom. She was a graduate of Dunkirk High School. Betty then moved to Washington, D.C., where she had been an employee of the Pentagon in the Munitions Building Casualty Branch.

Moving back to this area 30 years ago, she then lived in Buffalo where she was employed as the Payroll Clerk at Pierce-Stevens Paint Co. Betty also lived in Dunkirk where she had worked for Alco Corp. and for Cresent Tools of Jamestown.

She is a former member of St. John's United Church of Christ of Dunkirk. Betty loved to travel and was a collector of cookbooks, egg cups and jewelry.

She is survived by two brothers Arthur Ransom and Edward Ransom both of Fredonia and one sister Barbara Krauth of Brocton, New York, several nieces and nephews, several great-nieces and nephews and several great-great nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by one sister, Margaret Piehl.

Funeral Services will take place on Thursday morning May 5, 2016 at 11 a.m. from the Morse Funeral Home, 51 Highland Ave., Brocton, the Rev. Larry Morrison will officiate. Interment will follow at the Portland Evergreen Cemetery. Friends are invited to call Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Morse Funeral Home in Brocton.
