Softball: Lady Wolverines beat Randolph, 10-6

(May 16) - The Lady Wolverines (10-8, 9-3) tuned up for the playoffs with a 10-6 nonleague win over the Randolph Lady Cardinals Monday.

Senior Laura Tofil starred for Westfield, homering and pitching a complete game. She finished 2 for 4 with 4 RBIs at the plate, and struck out eight, walked two and allowed eight hits in the pitcher's circle.

The Lady Wolverines' Kiara Booker had a 2-for-4 day with a triple and three runs batted in. Amy Meleen had a double and drove in three runs for the team.

Lady Thunderbirds

defeat Brocton twice

RIPLEY (May 16) - The Chautauqua Lake Lady Thunderbirds defeated the Brocton Lady Bulldogs, 17-0, and 15-0, Monday in non-league high school softball games.

It was Senior Day for Chautauqua Lake's Abigail Andriaccio and Jade Walsh. In the first game, Olivia Anderson and Allie Cummings combined for a shutout win.

In the second game, Walsh threw a shutout to lead the Lady Thunderbirds to a win. Both Andriaccio and Walsh shined. Andriaccio hit a three-run homer and added a single while Walsh stroked three singles.

Chautauqua Lake takes out Panama

PANAMA (May 13) - Cameryn Hawkins stroked four hits with a double and Cianna Braymiller added three hits with a double as Chautauqua Lake stopped Panama in non-league girls softball on Friday.

Kendra Keyser added two hits with a home run over the fence and Abigail Andriaccio added two hits in the win.

Elle Angeletti had three hits with two doubles, Haley King two hits with a triple, Taylor Bowen two hits with a double, Tara Sweeney two singles and Maci Johnson a triple for Panama.

Olivia Anderson of Chautauqua Lake pitched four shutout innings with nine strikeouts, three walks and allowed a hit.

Westfield loses at Maple Grove

BEMUS POINT (May 12) - Two hits apiece from Alexis Hallberg, Elise Swanson and Allison Johnson helped Maple Grove take down Westfield, 6-3, in non-league action.

Lynne Nordin was effective in the circle for the Red Dragons, hurling all seven innings, striking out six and only surrendering four hits.

Laura Tofil, Cameron Abbey-Mott, Madisan Raynor and Lindsey Songer all recorded hits for the Wolverines in defeat.

Chautaqua Lake rallies to win over Falconer

(May 11) - Olivia Anderson allowed a run on five hits while striking out six and walking two, as Chautauqua Lake took down Falconer, 3-1, in CCAA West 1 softball action on Wednesday.

Falconer grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI ground out off the bat of Rachel Baglia, but it was the only lead the Lady Golden Falcons held Wednesday afternoon, as the Lady Thunderbirds tied the game 1-all in the bottom of the second, before taking the lead for good in the bottom of the third. Chautauqua Lake's final run came in the home half of the sixth.

In the second, Cameryn Hawkins walked to get things started, was moved over on a sacrifice bunt by Cianna Braymiller and scored on a single off the bat of Lakin Gustafson. In the third, Chadelynn Johnson tripled and scored on a Jade Walsh single to make it 2-1. Meanwhile, in the sixth, after Anderson worked out of a pair of bases-loaded jams, Braymiller tripled, then scored on an errant throw back into the infield.

Kendra Keyser doubled in the win for the Lady Thunderbirds while Gustafson added another single to back Anderson.

Katie Fales suffered the loss in the circle for Falconer. She allowed three runs on five hits while striking out seven and walking one. Jenna Fellows added two hits in the loss for the Lady Golden Falcons.

Forestville bashes

Lady Bulldogs, 16-0

BROCTON (May 11) - The Forestville Lady Hornets erupted for 16 hits Wednesday in a 16-0 victory over Brocton in CCAA West 2 high school softball.

Katie Thompson led the charge with three hits and five RBIs. Julia Mierzwa had two hits and three RBIs while Emily Narraway had two hits and drove in two runs for the winners.

Brooke Ostrye was the winning pitcher, striking out eight and giving up just four hits and no walks.

The Lady Bulldogs' Caitlin Murphy, Elise Miller, Elyse Markham and Logan Kelley each had a hit in defeat.

After the game, Brocton honored seniors Caitlin Murphy, Ally Schichtel and Madelyn Roberts.

Clymer loses to Panama

PANAMA (May 11) - Haley King collected four hits and Francine Torres scattered six hits and struck out nine to help Panama to a 10-4 Division 2 West win over Clymer.

Taylor Bowen (double), Maci Johnson (triple), Ellie Angeletti (double), Madalyn Bowen (double, triple) and Abi Lisciandro (double) all had two hits for the Lady Panthers (7-6, 7-5).

Nashia Duryee (double) led Clymer with two hits. Erica Gustafson took the loss.

Westfield tops Clymer

(May 10) - The Westfield Lady Wolverines won their sixth straight game Tuesday with an impressive 12-1 verdict over the Clymer Lady Pirates in CCAA West 2 high school softball.

Laura Tofil shined in all facets. In the circle, she fanned eight and allowed just five hits and no walks. At the plate, she was 4 for 4 with a double and drove in six runs.

Kiara Booker had a 3-for-4 showing while Taylor Kassman was 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Madisan Raynor was 3 for 4 with a triple and an RBI while Madison Abbey-Mott had two hits.

As a team, the Lady Wolverines had 19 hits.

"We are starting to play as a team and starting to hit the ball," Westfield coach Ed LeBarron said of the win streak. "We have played a lot of games in a row. I think repetition has really helped. We are getting consistent pitching, hitting and playing."

The Lady Pirates' lone run came via a Samantha Brumagin RBI single. Andrea Fredenberg also had a hit in defeat.
