Westfield Fire Department monthly report for May 2016

Of the 45 total calls in May, 38 were for emergency medical services (EMS), with 18 of those calls being within the Village of Westfield and ten of them within the town of Westfield. There were ten responses to Absolut Care.

There were three fire calls during the month of May. Two of the fire calls occurred in the village. The first response was at Better Baked Foods, 25 Jefferson Street for a smoke alarm activation. The second call was for smoke reported behind a building at 102 East Main Street. The smoke was determined to be from a small leaf fire. The third fire call was a mutual aid response to Ripley for a CO alarm activation at 5184 Route 76.

The Fire Department of Westfield responded to one motor vehicle accident in May. This was a mutual aid call in Mayville at 8100 Hannum Road with a vehicle reported to be on fire.

There were three service calls in May. The first was for a CO alarm activation at 196 West Main Street. The other two service calls were for power lines burning at 14 Franklin Street; and a street light smoking at Grove and Academy Streets.

The 45 responses in May was a significant increase from last month's total of 26 responses. The Fire Department of Westfield has responded to a total of 216 incidents since January 1, 2016.
