Ray A. Biekert

DEWITTVILLE - Ray A. Biekert, 83, of Meadows Road, Dewittville, died Thursday (July 21, 2016) at his home.

He was born August 8, 1932 in Mayville, the son of the late Arthur and Mamie Overlander Biekert.

Ray had formerly worked at the Chautauqua Malted Milk Plant in Mayville, and at the WCA Hospital in Jamestown.

He was a member of Hurlbut Memorial Community United Methodist Church in Chautauqua, Dewittville Fire Department, Mayville Conservation Club, Westfield Rod and Gun Club, Westfield Moose #118, and the Jamestown Rifle Club.

Ray was an avid hunter, he enjoyed the outdoors and camping, he also enjoyed shooting in rifle competition. He was proud to have received the "Conservationist of the Year Award".

He is survived by 5 children, Rachel Graham, Rebecca (Robert) Winchester, Renee' (James) Abbott, Hans (Joet) Biekert, and Andre' Biekert; 13 grandchildren, He will be missed by his caregiver-grandson Benjamin, Sara, Aaron, Isaiah, Shannon, Adam, Christopher, Jamie, Jessica, Nathaniel, Andrew, Kali and Laiken; many great grandchildren; and a sister, Vera Tallman.

He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Howe Biekert whom he married April 4, 1953 in the Dewittville Methodist Church and who died April 11, 2007.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville. Burial will be in the Dewittville Cemetery.

No visitation will be observed.
