Robert W. “Bob” Brooks

Robert W. "Bob" Brooks, 84, of Kennedy passed away Friday (September 30, 2016) in his home.

A lifelong area resident he was born October 10, 1931 in Mayville, the son of the late Peter and Regina Tylock Brooks.

In earlier years Bob was employed by Dahlstrom's Manufacturing, Mosher Mobile Milling and prior to retirement was employed by Jamestown Public Schools retiring in 1990.

Bob was a member of Clarks Corners Community Church and enjoyed golfing, reading and watching western television shows and movies. He also enjoyed woodworking, restoring furniture and giving his restoration furniture away. Bob was proud to give each of his children restored furniture in remembrance of him.

He always enjoyed helping others and received much gratitude from his fellow co-workers for putting in extra time working on special projects such as constructing easels for the art department. Bob will be remembered for his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Surviving are his wife Marilee Sharp Brooks whom he married February 28, 1957 in Kennedy; three daughters: Lesley Brooks of Grand Island, NY, Mary Jane (John) Griffith of Falconer, April (Martin) Ericsson of Kennedy; seven grandchildren: Bradley (Holly) Griffith, Christopher Griffith (Amit Taneja), Bethany (Matthew) Samuels, Cassandra (Mark) Simmons, Ryan Ericsson, Boe Brooks, Heather Pratt; four great-grandchildren: Liam and Logan Griffith, Parker Simmons, Abbey Lee; three brothers: James (Sally) Brooks of Jamestown, Gordon (Mary) Brooks, Donald (Dorothy) Brooks all of Texas; three sisters: Betty (Alan) Johnson of Victor, NY, Patricia (Richard) Slawson of Forestville, Joyce Josephson of Cassadaga and his cousin Bruce (Eileen) Widen of Jamestown.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his son Darrin R. Brooks on December 23, 2010; a sister Esther Stewart and two brothers: Albert and Richard Brooks.

The Brook's family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude for the care Bob received from Kim (nurse's aide), Kim (nurse) and Pastor Phelps all of Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care.

A memorial service was held Oct. 4 at 2 p.m. in the Clarks Corners Community Church. Rev. Walter Venman pastor of the church officiated.

The family received friends one hour prior to the memorial service Tuesday in the church.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be donated to the Kennedy Free Library or Chautauqua County Hospice and Palliative Care.
