YORKSHIRE - Going into Friday's Class B South high school football game, Fredonia/Westfield/Brocton knew it had to stop Pioneer's Ted Thompson and Mike Rigerman if it wanted a chance to win.

Turns out it was easier said than done.

Thompson rushed for 216 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries while Rigerman scored on a 32-yard touchdown pass to lift the Panthers past FWB, 30-6.

Pioneer scored 30 unanswered points before FWB finally scored.

The home team led 21-0 after the first quarter and 28-0 at halftime.

It all started with an 11-yard touchdown run from Caleb Riorden for a 7-0 lead. Rigerman followed with his touchdown reception.

Thompson scored on runs of 37 yards and 50 yards.

The Panthers also scored two points on a safety in the third quarter after the snap on a punt went over the punter's head and out of the end zone. It was not the first time the punting game had bad luck. In the first quarter, a 30-yard punt took an unfortunate bounce off the turf and rolled all the way back to the original line of scrimmage.

FWB's lone score came on Jake Lesswing's 52-yard punt return for a touchdown after Nicholas Pucci blocked the punt.

Max Bates ran for 46 yards and was 2 for 9 passing for 21 yards for FWB. Joell Colon was the leading rusher with 76 yards on 15 carries while Chris Catalano rushed for 40 yards.

Defensively, Jake Green had 10 tackles while Mike Polleto had an interception.

"We couldn't get the offense going and the defense couldn't stop them," FWB coach Mike Marshall said. "We didn't tackle very well and they ran hard. They played a good game."
