On Saturday, Sept. 22, the Chautauqua Lake JV Volleyball team finished their season by winning the Spike-O-Rama tournament at Gowanda, in which the top JV teams in the CCAA competed. They needed to come from behind several times to win it. In pool play, they split with Portville 27-25, 24-26. They won both sets against Cassadaga Valley, but lost the first set to Gowanda 18-25. To finish first in the pool they needed to keep Gowanda to less than 18 points in the second set. It was tied at 16-16, but CLCS scored nine straight points with Bryanna Davis serving the last eight points. The semifinals was one set to 25. They fell behind Cassadaga Valley 0-6 and 4-10, but were able to come back to win 25-22. In the finals, they fell behind early again, but came back to beat Gowanda 25-22 in the first set. They were down 19-22 in the second set, but scored the next six points with Sophie Woodis serving the last five for a 25-22 win. It was the fifth tournament the Thunderbird JV team won this season.
