James J. Dascoli

MAYVILLE - James J. Dascoli, 89, of Spruce Drive, Mayville, died Thursday (November 24, 2016) in St. Vincent's Hospital in Erie, PA.

He was born April 15, 1927 in West Orange, NJ, the son of the late Nicola and Grace Passuccia Dascoli.

Jim was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Navy.

He was a barber at the Mayville Barber Shop and was also a self employed contractor.

Jim was an avid golfer, who enjoyed playing at the Chautauqua Point Golf Course.

He is survived by his wife, Betty J. Sliter Dascoli, whom he married on April 15, 1991 in Sarasota, FL; twin daughters, Deborah Kautz of Stow, NY and Diane Reyda of Corry, PA; one son, Michael Dascoli of Erie, PA; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and a brother, Michael Dascoli of Summerfield, FL.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldine Baker Dascoli in 1990; 3 sisters; and 4 brothers.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday (Dec. 3, 2016) at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville. Burial will be in the Mayville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service (10 to 11 am) on Saturday at the funeral home.
