Helen Mae Gleason

MAYVILLE - Helen Mae Gleason, 99, formerly of Brookdale in Lakewood, died Sunday (Nov. 27, 2016) at Heritage Green Rehab &SN.

Helen was born February 7, 1917 in Erie, PA, the daughter of the late Alfred J. and Anna Moran Jones.

She worked at Chautauqua Central School, and she was a secretary at The Mayville Realty Co. in Mayville.

Helen was a charter member of the North Harmony Senior Citizens, the Acanthus Chapter of Eastern Star, and the Episcopal Church.

Helen loved her family, spending time and sharing holiday's with them.

She is survived by one daughter, Jane (Clair) Donelson of Ashville; two sons, James (Diane) Gleason of Mayville and David (Pat) Gleason of Orlando, FL; six grandchildren, Steve (Wendy) Gleason of Jamestown, Timothy Gleason of Jamestown, Charles (Rai) Donelson of Orlando, FL, Ronald (Melanie) Donelson of South Bend, Ind., Debra Donelson of Panama, and Michael Gleason of Orlando; 14 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald F. Gleason whom she married June 23, 1938 in Jamestown and who died December 25, 1975; one brother, Alfred Jones, and one sister, Lorene Gleason.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Friday, Dec. 2 in the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville. Pastor William Blair will officiate. Burial will be in the Open Meadows Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm Thursday in the funeral home.
